Gypsy Festival 2010

OK I know I have talked to a several people to get their inputs at Fall W. F. about next years Gypsy Festival. I know they said their is an event up north in July. I can't remember the name of it or when it is, All I remember is it is in July.

Please note this is not a Wild Fire event or not trying to compete with Wild Fire, Fire Drums, and any other major festival like that. Just good times with good people.

So with that being said, if the date of that festival does not fall on or close to July 23rd weekend, that is when the Gypsy Festival will be.

July 23 - 25, 2010
I am gonna ask for donations for the Port a john, and not a nasty one either, wrist bands and any other supplies need for the festival. The more donations I can raise the Better the pot, Please know, this is not going into my pocket. Please bring at least one can of fuel for the community fuel dump, and if you are breathing, Oil.

Tents Tents Tents. Yes their is plenty of room for tenting. 30 acres. Mostly woods. So come Fri and stay till Sun.

I am also thinking of maybe having a work shop or 2 for people who is interested in learning but never touched fire tools, or to learn from others. I have few ideas to try and get certain people out for the work shops. I am still working on the full details, but need to get this out so I can confirm the dates and to get the feed back from everyone. The Stomp brothers were here this year for another gathering I had. Just ask them about the area.

Vending. If you are a toy maker and would like to make a buck or 3, come set up and vend. Their is no vending fee. All I ask is that you keep it to the fire arts for vending.

That is all I can think of right now, but more to come.

Hope to see you for the first Gypsy Festival, and more to come I hope

Gypsy Jay

Want to know more????

Zafira Dance Company (www.zafiradance.com): performances are opulent vignettes that combine Bellydance with contemporary and ethnic dance forms. The result is an ornate performance that blurs the boundary between old and new; performer and audience, earthy and elegant. Guided by the mood of the music, Zafira draws the viewer into each piece by shaping rhythm and melody into gesture and form. Liquid movements, staccato accents and textured choreographies capture a timeless beauty that expresses both the sensuality and strength of the female form. Zafira Dance Company members work together as a collective. Christine Andrews, Maria Hamer, and Olivia Kissel have been teaching and performing together since 1996. Their friendship and love of dance shines through in each performance. Each member is a contributing artist and brings something unique to the company. This collective approach allows Zafira to offer a unique and powerful dance experience like no other.

Incus (www.incus.net): Incus is a wonderfully interactive group that mesmerizes its audience, and manages to sweep an entire room into a heartfelt dance party and sing along. "Under the powerful vocals and drums that drive Incus's music is a soul that is rare. If Incus is dark, then it is dark like the woods under a full moon: unexpectedly bright, full of brilliant stars, inviting, warm, natural and seductive." -

Incus Releases their new Video "Dancer Through Time" at the Winter Gala and will be premiering a new song as well...

Dudochka: DUDOCHKA is a septet dedicated to providing live Gypsy grooves to the sublime dancers of ZAFIRA. Comprising members of Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band, Esthema, Faebotica, and Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, it strives to combine sensuous Balkan brass with a modern cabaret sound conducive to disrobing.

Vadalna Tribal Dance Co. (www.vadalna.com): Your host, Vadalna Tribal Dance Co., will perform for the last time before returning to the cave to emerge in the Spring with a new rendition of their full-length show, Menagerie. This performance will feature their newest piece “Desire” complete with a brand new video accompaniment. Additionally, Vadalna’s beginners and intermediate students will be featured throughout the performance.

In the spirit of the Sanskrit word for "change" which lends them their name, Vadalna walks a continually shifting line between contrasting elements, melding Middle Eastern movement and rhythms with hip-hop and beats of the electronic underground, the ancient with the ultra-modern, the intensely personal with the universal and archetypal. The result is something neither one extreme nor the other, but both, and unique. Vadalna's constant evolution is reflected in Menagerie, in which the self journeys through the light and shadow of the deepest psyche to become a creature more familiar than you think.

Animating the Spirit of Democracy With a Ritual of Unity and Blessing

CONTACT: CAROLINE KENNER
301-384-8455
301-412-1760

SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND, 6 JANUARY 2009
The Washington, D.C. community of magical and spiritual progressives will join together on Monday afternoon, January 19th, at the Jefferson Memorial Plaza, to sweep the town clean and welcome President-elect Obama and his administration to the White House.

The Ritual of Unity and Blessing is organized by a triumvirate of native Washingtonians, one of whom is the great-granddaughter of slaves, one the great-granddaughter of slave owners, and one the daughter of a populist New Deal Congressman. The ceremony will begin promptly at 2pm with a Witches’ Broom Dance, intended to cleanse Washington of the malfeasance, deceit and partisanship of the last eight years.

Washington Witchdoctor Caroline Kenner, a Pagan shamanic healer and organizer for the Sacred Space Foundation, says, “Many of us are worried by the ruinous course our country has taken for the last eight years, and we are also concerned for the safety of the Obama and Biden families. This ceremony gives us a chance to request help from our loving ancestors and our multitude of deities, and to bless and protect the incoming administration. We will begin the work by magically sweeping away the detritus of the worst administration in American history with our consecrated Witches’ Brooms.”

Wiccan Priestess Katrina Messenger, founder of Connect DC and the Reflections Mystery School, and faculty member at Cherry Hill Seminary, says, "We have an opportunity not only to sweep away the old, we also need to bless this beautiful city in preparation for what is to come. With all that is churning around the world in recent times, we need clear leadership and compassionate hearts at the helm of this great nation. Washington is such a jewel in the larger fabric of peace, freedom, beauty and justice, let us charge this historic incoming administration with all the good juice we can conjure!”

Caroline W. Casey, founder of Coyote Network News (the Compassionate Trickster Mythological News Service) as well as the host-creator of Pacifica Radio Network's, "The Visionary Activist Show," says, “The word "inauguration" comes from the word "augur", the pattern-tracker, the diviner within us all. The augur would walk out into nature to divine the patterns indicating which human was deemed the most responsible steward of the Common Wealth, the well-being of all our relations. And that chosen person would be "inaugurated" as the ruler who weds the land. We invite you to contribute your medicine blessing to our collective brew, and toast our new President, with whom we vow to collaborate: Barack Hussein Obama!”

A large quartz crystal resembling the Washington Monument will be charged with the blessings of unity and protection during the ritual. At the culmination of the ceremony, the crystal will be sacrificed into the Tidal Basin, whence it will broadcast the energies of the ritual to the Potomac River and the world at large. A Drum Circle will follow, lasting until 4:45pm. People from all religious faiths and spiritual traditions, or none, are welcome to join us.

A detailed description of the ceremony, including instructions for parking and what to bring, can be found at www.paganreligiousrights.org starting January 6th.
Chapel of Sacred Mirrors Buys Permanent Site

For Immediate Release: Chapel of Sacred Mirrors leaves NYC,
CoSM Sanctuary to open in Wappinger, NY mid-2009.

The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors has been a sanctuary for contemplation and events encouraging the creative spirit in New York City since 2004. Hundreds of thousands of people have visited Alex and Allyson Grey’s living brochure; their vision of a permanent home, but the lease has ended. CoSM is pleased to announce the purchase of 40-acre former interfaith retreat campus, 65 miles up the Hudson River. It’s a 20-minute walk from the New Hamburg MetroNorth station or about an hour’s drive from NYC.

CoSM Sanctuary will offer spiritual gatherings; educational and cultural events emphasizing art as a spiritual practice. Visionary artists, musicians, dancers, scientists and teachers will share their wisdom here. Sun-filled galleries and libraries will provide meditative and contemplative space for the mind, body and soul. The chapel you have seen in sculpted model will be built for the artwork of Alex Grey and others.

CoSM Sanctuary has wonderful opportunities, but its upkeep was neglected for many years and its buildings have fallen into disrepair. With your help, this once-magnificent estate can be repurposed.

The brick carriage house will be converted to exhibit the Sacred Mirrors. A conference building will host art, meditation and yoga classes. A cabin in the woods will become a studio where artists-in-residence can paint and sculpt for the Chapel and beyond. The main house, a stunning wood-frame Victorian, needs extensive renovation to be weatherproof and energy-efficient. Simple, affordable overnight lodging and dining for up to 100 people will be available.

The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors is a 501(c)(3) organization, supported solely by donations from the community, which are deductible on income and estate taxes. Financial contributions and skilled volunteers are needed. An estimated two million dollars is required for renovation. There are tens of thousands of fans of Alex Grey and the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, just ten dollars from each can add up quickly.
You can donate online at http://cosm.org/donate.html
Or visit our web stores, at http://cosm.org/shop.html and http://www.alexgrey.com/shop.html, and buy a piece of art history.
Checks may be mailed to Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, PO Box 20668, N, NY 10011

If you have time and skills to offer in Wappinger, please write to our volunteer coordinator: cosm.art.sanctuary@gmail.com

If you can help us move art and furniture from NYC to Wappinger in January, please write to our move coordinator Mz. imani -
cosm.move.nyc@gmail.com

With your help, says founding artist Alex Grey, “We will create sacred space, a new center for creativity as a spiritual path.”

Thank you, and blessings.

WELL HELLO THERE INCUS LOVERS! After a moonlit meeting with Jason, we thought it a grand idea that I introduce myself to all you lovelies and update you on some of INCUS's latest news and special performances.

Sooooooo my pretties, I'm Harmony Dawn and have taken over promotions for INCUS... you may have shared some space with me at Firefly or Burningman, I may have read your tarot cards at the Tremont Tearoom, Cuchi Cuchi, or at any number of festivals in the past few years. If we have never met, we will soon, promise. If you lurk or play on either this here myspace or the tribe.net space, you're going to be able to contact both Jason and I. In all my years booking, and enjoying this tour de force, it's a pleasure to now spread the word about the latest and loveliest of INCUS's summer plans. As we are all part of this grand magickal community - and love seeing all you kindred folk - if there are any festivals you must see INCUS participate in, please tell me all about it!

They are asking for drummers to lead a short half mile march from Boston Common. Please contact them via the information below and let them know if you can participate. The more drummers we can provide for them, the more powerful this will be.

My band Trouz Bras (Big Noise) is performing at "RiverFire - An Ancient Celtic Fire Festival" at Hudson, NY on September 23rd.

It looks like it's going to be an amazing time - see:
http://www.celebrationofcelts.com/riverfire.html

If you are into fire and drums and all that cool stuff, check it out and be there! As a little incentive, they are burning a 30 foot "Wicker Man" at 10pm.

If you are going to be there and you work with fire, I'd like to talk about you performing with Trouz Bras.

Fall 06 WildFire is one Month away

Hello All,
The fall WildFire retreat is less then four weeks away. If you are currently or aspiring to be involved with the dance, drum or fire performing arts then don’t miss this incredible opportunity to learn and grow at the largest north east gathering built just for you. The spring WildFire retreat had over 100 artists attend and taught more then 30 classes in a verity of disciplines. This fall we have expanded added more class types and will be offering public transportation access (check out the website for details). We are also opening an indoor area for performing arts equipment vendors to come and show their wares. This is a great opportunity to see, hold, and play with different toys made by different folks. If you are a vendor of performing arts toys and want to participate in this way, please email chad@freedomthrufire.com (no charge to setup, you just have to be open to educating everyone on your stuff).

Summary Info
Sept 11th – 17th
Public Transportation is available
Located at a picturesque Southern CT river front location with hot showers and full bathrooms - directions on website
Car camping type venue – with many pre-built tents and bunk beds if you want them (first reserve, first get)
There are no public audiences at WildFire just performing artist
Classes are taught all four days, with spontaneous sharing happening constantly
Website - www.freedomthrufire.com

Tickets are limited to 150 and ticket prices go up on Sept 1st ($75 now $100 after the 1st). Many people have commented that this is the cheapest and best way they could spend a three day weekend (they really say that – ask them). All food is included in your ticket price and it is good food.

Best wishes to you no matter the route your path takes you on. If these performing arts are a part of your path, then I really hope to see and share with you at WildFire. FYI - For those attending Burning Man, you can check out the WildFire Tribe site to find other north east performing artist that are attending BM and where we are having meet ups and stuff (http://tribes.tribe.net/wildfireretreat/).

Walk in peace,
Chad

Jeff Webb & I have been happy to provide live percussion for some of the most kickin' fire and poi performers in the Tri-State area-most recently at Zan Asha's Fairy Fest Fundraiser in Brooklyn last Saturday. We're located in Long Island, NY but have done gigs as far afield as a naturalist camp in Vermont last summer! Jeff has the distinction of being a djembe teacher/performer with a professional African Dance Company, and together we perform West African/bellydance fusion percussion. If you'd like to "tribe up" your fire play, why not check us out at cdfreedom.com or at our Eastwinds Tribal Drumming tribe. Let's get together and party!!!

hey friends,

We're on I 75 about 100 miles shy of Lexington, KY, We are on the way to French Lick, Indiana. Great name for a town I know. This is also the hometown of some guy named Larry Bird.
Our grease conversion has been a bit challenging. We didn't get out of town until about a day late. We had an extra gas tank put on Blue Meda, but apperntly the cellenoids, which control the flow of fuel to the engine, aren't doing a great job, thus, we are burning more diesel than grease. It's a long story, but we are still chugging along, and are psyched to be out on the road.
Forestdance at Deerfields was an intense and magical experience, filled wilth a lot of magic, depth, love and beauty. We played an unplugged set the last night, and went to some pretty deep places in our set. It was Kristen Drymala's first show with us on cello, and she did a fantastic job.
We set up our camp and merch area at Babalon's Rising tomorrow, and play Friday night. On Sunday we head to PSG in Ohio. That's a large gathering and we're looking forward to it as well. We'll be home a few days before Firefly, then a couple of us go to Spiritfire. AFter that, we play Sirius Rising under a pho' name, then hang out but not officially perform at Starwood, go straight to Forestdance Indiana, then continue to the west coast for a Bar Sinister gig, others, Phoenix Fire, then back, still booking more shows, playing Forestdances in Wisconsin and then back here in Mass.
It really is wonderful to be out. We are all getting along very well, and we're rocking pretty hard. The new live albums from COSM will be in our hands in a couple of more days.

If anyone has any contacts for shows in any markets on the west coast let us know. we'd love to hook up with some like minded peeps along the way.

Round 3, Emergenza-here we come

Man we're having fun. Thanks everyone for lighting up the room with us. Drum roll...

Rd 3- at The Paradise Rock Club-967-969 Comm. Ave., Boston, MA
on
Friday night, June 2nd
and we go on at midnight sharp...

though we had been told that after the first two rounds, it wouldn't be by audience vote, we've now been told by Emergenza that voting will be occuring in each round up until the US finals. So we can't do it without our friends. Only one band will move on from this night and make it to Avalon for the New England Finals.

The only question left is: Should we schedule another pre party at our place.? What do you think?

You can grab tickets off of our site. www.Incus.net
Hope to see you there,

and again...Thanks.

I debated on posting this question, so I sincerely hope I don't offend anyone or bring up a taboo topic here.... anyway though, whatever happened to Erik (the kit drummer) who was ay May Moon Madness (TN) last year (2005)? I notice he has credits on the most recent CD, but he doesn't appear on the current band listings or the recent band group picture. We met at May Moon 2005 and he seemed like such an "in tune" person. Just stray curiousity from my cat totem...

Peace,

Monday, May 29th, Incusian Memorial Day BBQ Update and Salem gig news

Yuppers,

We’ve got a big Mem. Day weekend planned. Not only is Poppy, one of our fabled percussionists turning a year older but we are throwing our huge bash the afternoon after our first gig ever in Salem, MA. Perhaps we can turn the entire thing into one big sleep over.

An old friend of mine, Taki, just reserved us a moonwalk for the bbq so be ready to jump and bounce once you’re awake. We’re looking to offer some fresh fruit drinks, some fresh salmon, asparagus, maybe some hot peppers, some fake meat products and whatever anyone wants to bring along, plus we’re giving a raffle ticket at the door for a chance to win a tarot reading from Nicole, a drum lesson from Jacob, a piano trance massage session from mwah, a massage from the b-day boy (he’s a pro, and a dang good one), and who knows what else we’ll come up with by then, (maybe a foozeball table, as it showed up on our property last night-how mysterious).

Admission to this thing is $15, and btw, you get a ticket to our Rd. 3 Emergenza show on Friday, June 2nd at the Paradise Rock Club. Yes, we are looking forward to playing that stage again, and if we can muster more support from ya’ll, than the other seven bands we will be facing can, we will move on to play Avalon next month. Insert fantasies of rock stardom here. Pixies, Sugarcubes, Prince and the Revolution, other acts that I’ve seen there…

Back to reality and the Paradise….
967 Comm. Ave, Boston www.thedise.com, We go on at midnight.
If you can’t make the BBQ-please consider buying your tickets from our web site as it will save you a whopping $2.40 per ticket, and help us out. Tickets will be at will-call for you.
If you have already bought your ticket for Rd. 3, bring it to the BBQ, show it at the door, and you will get in for free, and receive a raffle ticket as well.

If you are still with me, (bless you), the night before the bbq, we are playing our first show in Salem, MA the night before, Sunday, May 28th at the Dodge Street Bar and Grille. 7 Dodge Street, Salem, MA 01970
Google Maps - MapQuest 978-745-0139
Now I believe this is a free show. A memorial day in Salem, some dinner, and a tribal dark world medicine rock show sounds like an ok way to spend the holiday. Please come join us, or tell your witchy-poo friends who live out that way.

That’s all for now. Enjoy this day…
May 29th - Come do the sacred BBQ

So as you know we're riding high through the Emergenza music competition, with your love and support. Our last house party to sell tickets was such a smashing success that we've decided to up the ante this time around, and host a Memorial Day Barbecue on Monday May 29th at the Wyman house to say thanks and to sell tickets to our next show, the following Friday June 2nd at the Paradise Rock Club (www.thedise.com).

Come over Monday the 29th anytime after 1pm, and $15 will get you a ticket to the show, barbecued eats such as shishkebobs, meats or fakemeat treats, and a chance to win one of several raffled prizes such as a massage from Papillon, a tarot reading from Nicole, or a trance piano session with Jason.

Thank you for all your love and support. Please allow us to love you back, and come do the sacred bbq with us around the fire. Rsvp whenever possible.

Sacred All Night Fire Circles tribe

Hello Incus, Forestdancers, and friends,

if you haven't heard already, there is a tribe called Sacred All Night Fire Circle:

http://tribes.tribe.net/sacredfire

We'd love to see all of you there. Please join (if you aren't a member already!), post about all the all night fire circle events you know about or plan to go to. In these times of change I think it is helpful for there to be cross-communication and cross-pollination. Tell us about the model and experience at Forestdance, and how that takes shape in each city you go to. What new magics and medicines are you brewing? Share Forestdance with us, and tell us your summer schedule!

I hope that the tribe will be a central information hub about where we can get our fires all over the world. Support new fires, stay connected to existing fires. Join your friends and beloveds on fire circle tours. Arrange rides, ask questions, and post reviews of the events you go to.

Your presence is valued. Please spread the word to your non-tribe friends! They don't have to be a member of tribe to access the page and read the information and reviews at:

http://tribes.tribe.net/sacredfire

Thanks, and hope to see you at some fires this summer!
Phantomime Productions

This summer I will be touring as the Phantomime with a mobile performance stage complete with rigging, a portable stage, lighting installation and as well an Egyptian tent and alter installation honoring Baste. I am inviting performers and lighting people to join me at different venues to use the stage, and add to out lighting effects. In addition to performing and teaching I am hoping to meet up with various Gypsies and to exchange knowledge. I’ll be all over the place so let me know where your going to be and we’ll see what can happen. Oh yeah. I’ll also be selling a promoting the release of a new line of fire toys from Wicked Good Fire Toys

Showbelisk

. The lighting systems consist of 6- 7ft Obelisks, which house different projectors, fog machines and lighting effects. The Showbelisk when pointed inward towards each other produce a magnificent light show. Each Showbelisk has e a black lacquer and ornamental finish that makes the installation stand on it’s own during the day. The instillation will be be self-powered where necessary. It’s like a psychadelic Stone circle.

The stage is designed for Fire performances, but can function well for small theatre/dance/music acts. The area of the stage is 8X24 and sits seven feet off the ground and is rigged with fireproof materials and extinguishers, projection screens, sound and a generator.

Temple of Baste/Healing and recovery station. The temple of Baste is a large open sun tent with Egyptian murals painted on its sides. A special wind resistant fabric allows for air to pass through but little sun. This allows the enclosure to remain comfortable in high temperatures
The alter bares a large bronze Cat and a series of talismans and mirrors; the tent will house a series ointments and a foot cleansing station for the conjured and weary. Priests and priestesses will, at times, be on hand to care and wash feet without charge. The tent offers space for body workers to set up as long as there is no monetary exchange.

In addition to the installations, I will be offering a couple of seminars: to be posted

Here is a list of my destinations planned thus far:
and $10 through us. You can get your tickets at www.Incus.net via paypal, through any of the band members, or through another very special way that will be announced soon.

The way it works is that after each band, people raise there hand in the audience to cast their vote. They can vote for as many bands as they want, but of the eight playing, only the three with the higest total advances to the next round. So we'd would be oh so thankful for your support, and we promise to provide you with some booty shaking magic.

Are you coming? We hope so.

peace,
asking for opinions on "music for fire worshippers" as a slogan

"music for fire worshippers"...

What is a fire worshipper?

For me, it is a person who uses fire while doing sacred or magical work. That can be someone working a fire, doing a sweat lodge, burning sage or incense, etc. It can be many many things. Moses was one, some fire spinners perhaps are others. A lot of folks have suggested they are turned off by this phrase. Others love it. Poppy, Nicole, Olivia and I were discussing this. We are all interested in knowing what people who know the bands music thinks about it. What was your first impression? Has that changed? Any suggestions on altering it slightly to somthing like "music for fire starters", "music for fire lovers", "music for fire people", "music for the fire burning", etc.

Thanks for sharing if you choose to.

Help INCUS on the 17th! (?)

Hey anyone and everyone!

So Jason has enlisted me for some peripheral assistance in regards to setting up for shows, but I need a little help with something at the show on the 17th. This is a "Dark Music Festival" (the 2nd annual, apparently), I believe, in Providence RI. Info on the site, www.incus.net .

Here's the deal. I'm being trained to help set up J's keyboards on stage. This will be critical at the Emergenza Fest @ the Middle East upstairs on Dec. 3rd, as they (we) will only have 5 MINUTES to set up. Then, they have but 20 minutes to impress the crowd/judges. (Please be awesome, friends, and show up. They will show there best, we should too. If they win this "battle of the bands" type deal, they get to GO TO EUROPE! This is worth giving your all for, these brothers and sisters have done so much for so many...)

Now, I'll be dealing with that, but here's where others may help me out: Jason has asked me time the songs. We want to get others to do this as well, we will time each song, write it down, and then everyone's results will be averaged. Three people will be enough, but I'd like six, in case anyone can't show, or any technical/human problems occur (who knows what could happen?) [Jason, if your reading this, we should have sheets prepped, with the playlist and an entry slot for the time. I can rig it up if you send me the playlist.]

So if your interested, post here, and we'll talk. I want the interaction visable, as a communal example of "tribal behavior", or some such. You know, monkey see, monkey do?

- d 7 e 7 m 7 i

p.s. who has stop watches? regular ones work too...

Cosm show-my birthday-how fun can we make it?

So we have a pretty intense weekend planned coming up. We're playing in Providence at the RI dark music fest, then we have a night off, then we play Cosm again in NYC, and come back to play the Zeitgeist with the girls from Fluttr Effect. All that and my birthday on the 23rd. So I'm not sure how my b-day is goingto fit in to all of it but there is going to have to be some time to party in there.
The band would like to offer free admission to the Zeitgeist and an Incus tee shirt to anyone who comes to all three shows. You'd have to be crazy, right? I imagine most of us have seen the event listing but I thought I'd add it here. Who wants to come to NY, and how can we make it a party? I wish we all had a huge crash space down there for some of these road trips. Below is the event info for Cosm. Check the incus site for info on the R.I. dark music fest. Cheers.

Come Join us for a Night of Tribal Sounds and Ritual Dance
Saturday, November 19th 9pm $15
Incus performing live with “Sacred Belly” belly dance

Incus is a combination of dark and light.
Under the powerful vocals and drums that drive Incus’s music is a soul that is rare. If Incus is dark, then it is dark like the woods under a full moon: unexpectedly bright, full of brilliant stars, inviting, warm, natural and seductive.

Ethereal female vocals interplay with the dramatic male lead vocals. Filled with lovely piano, impassioned percussion, intoxicating cello, the music of Burning Thread casts a spell on the listener. –Outburn Magazine

Add to the above violin, trumpet accordion and beautiful dancing by Lilith, Miss Felicia and Shakti

7th annual Women's Belly and Womb Conference

Hello Incus tribe,
I am Shawn's mother and Jason's friend among many other of you here. Julie Woods who was not able to get to Forest Dance will be showing up here as well as others you may know. Maybe some one who knows of the sincerity of my work with women will speak here of it since I will be new to some of you. I am so glad for the work that we are doing everywhere. It is making a difference. This work is for the women and I would love the brother's support.
I am ALisa and I am writing to you today from Massachusetts. For the last seven years about a 100 women a year come dressed in red to honor our belly and womb in multitudes of ways. Brothers, please let the women know if you choose. It is an awesome way for the women to viscerally honor the Goddess.
There is among other things, drumming, belly dancing (some tribal style this year), belly healing, belly painting, belly communication, belly singing, belly honoring. I am the organizer and for the last seven years I also founded Priestess Path Apprenticeship on the East Coast, Women in Power and Daughters of the Earth Gathering. This year it happens on November 5th in Massachusetts.

I am among many things your sister, a dancer, a singer, ceremonialist and women's empowerment trainer since my early twenties. Tomorrow is my 46th birthday. What matters to me right now is the state of the world and women's power in relationship to what is next on our planet, carrying out the visions that come through me, and knowing that we can enact outrageous beautiful ceremonies that liberate and reshape our future. Needless to say, I have a great life in this realm because women are amazing as you know. If you don't know, come hang out with more amazing women and they will mirror your own beauty back. Right? You don't need a conference for that however. We are everywhere!

The Women's Belly and Womb Conference was a vision from my first firewalk. After walking about eighty times over the coals and being under the full moon in the snow, I had a vision that we must gather as women and truly honor our shared stories of our bellies and wombs as well as activating our power here.

If women come the night before we have both bellydancing as well as Sheri Winston's, The Maps of the Clitoris (fascinating actually) and the opening of a live Red Tent. I've been very busy this year including recording a CD of my belly chants that I named Women Rise Up. Shawna Carol will be here too, recording artist of Goddess Chant. Pass the word if you can because we actually could use these kind of days for women all over our planet. Many blessings to each of you. Keep the magic of our bellies alive, awake and sacred. Oh yes, if you want to check out more go to members.aol.com/alisastar/BellyWombConf2005.html
Many blessings, ALisa

I'm dancing around the fire at about 10am on sunday morning....after being up all night around a huge, powerful bonfire.

I look across at the drummers. There are 5 of them. 4 of which are Daryl, Hannah, Heligar (sp?), and Sol-p. What is this an Incus drum jam? (even nicole was resting on the ground next to them.)

You kitties rock, and you can really hold a space.

Thanks for being you.

Am I correct in assuming that these events are built around the Alchemical Fire Circle? Or is that my wishful thinking at work?

our show at the spiral gallery was a blast

"Last night at the Spiral Gallery was a blast. We played until around 3am then did an improv again around 5 until dawn. Great space and a great mix. Lots of folks dancing. Fluttr Effect were tight as always. It was nice catching up with some of them and getting to know them better.

We caught a few hours of sleep on various couches then hit the Haymarket in Northampton on the way home to indulge in one of my favorite smoothies known as a "7 day kiss". This is one of my two favorite smoothies on the planet. Fresh oj and mango juice, ginger and coconut chunks, and banana.
After this, we ended up setting up on the main street and doing an acoustic impromptu show on accordion, violin, cello, kick and snare, and percussion. We sold some discs, made some money, and got dinner and headed home.

Other than having a piece of a balcony fall on the back of my neck the other day, this was an excellent weekend. It actually hurt at times while I was singing last night, but I have to say that when I was singing about feeling so alive, it was coming from a pretty deep place.

Our next official show in Boston is on Tuesday, June 14th at the Zeitgeist Gallery. We will play unplugged."
